Jordan Plains Ltd Managerial & Structural Analysis

ABSTRACT

This paper was handed to the board of directors of Jordan Plains Ltd. By Mr. Ron B. as a part of the actions that were taken to reduce cost of production in order to meet profitability targets. The paper advised to take measures; by changing management styles, organization communication, teamwork, quality procedures, production procedures and to  strive to a lean organization.

(June 2008) The paper studied the Jordan Plains Ltd; especially its pack-house starting from April 2007 and along the date packing season from August to December 2007, as part of the process of decision-making of the company’s Director-General, Mr. Ron B. the editor of this paper.The paper reviews the management styles of the company’s managers throughout chain of management and examined the ability of the company’s response to external factors that affect the company today and coping with the changes, and concluded recommended to the managers how to prepare towards such changes in the future. The work examined the flexibility the Jordan Plains Ltd and its capability to turn to a lean organization, as needed in the current century, and how these principles will be applied by the company to achieve its goals.The study detected that the Jordan Plains Ltd has the potential for prosperous business but requires personal changes and structural changes. In the last years, the volume of trade had decreased substantially. Suppliers and customers left the Jordan Plains Ltd to competitive companies.

To prepare the organization for the future there is an immediate need to change the management styles to more effective ones. The first step will lead to a process of creating a vision, strategy and objectives. The process of creating a shared vision will triggers the staff in all positions in the company to a group learning, effectiveness and innovation. In the end of the process, managerial changes and structural changes will be inevitable in order to serve the company’s vision and goals.  The managers need to strive to a flexible organization, develop effective quality procedures, operation procedures, organization communication, teamwork and constant improvement and excellence. The writer, Ron B., recommends initiating effective managing processes in Jordan Plains Ltd, such as an effective management style, task-oriented, to promote and develop effective organization communication channels, to cherish organizational learning to create a shared vision and define goals. It is advised to improve the company’s operation procedures and quality procedures in order to improve mangers’ effectiveness, in order to utilize the company’s resources. It is advised to improve the company’s manager’s skills, motivation, and teamwork, all to improve the company’s capacity. Structural changes will reduce management layers and bring the company to be a lean organization. All will utilize the company’s potential and eventually will exceed the profitability of Jordan Plains Ltd.
